Our first trip to Guatemala which I choose as I had been to the birdfair at Rutland Water and spoke to very knowledgeable people on the Guatemala stand. It sounded interesting with lots of birds but also Mayan ruins as well as plenty of volcanos.
We booked the trip with Martsam travel who we found to be really professional and provided one of tour best experiences for guided travel. We found that thy went above the normal to ensure that our experience in Guatemala was memorable and enjoyable.
Our guide, Maynor, was extremely knowledgable and we got on really well with him. When we arrived we had no baggage and he helped us out to ensure that we got our bags back and that we had sufficient clothes to keep warm whilst in the mountains.
Really enjoyable trip. Probably not the best for photography with a distinct lack of wildlife in certain areas but we did enjoy our journey and felt that Martsam provided a nice balance of activity, relaxation and culinary experience.
