Following the landscape tour of Torres del Paine, Larry and I met up with Naun, a guide from Southwild. The objective of these additional days was to focus on Puma. And thats what we did! The area we were in is a private concession outside the main National Park. This means you have more scope as you can travel on many vehicle trails and when you see a puma you literally grab the cameras and walk with the pumas. The first time was a bit of a shock but you quickly realise the Pumas do not see man as prey and are in fact slightly wary of us. We saw puma everyday although so of them were massive distances away. Two particular ones were over the other side of a ravine and we travelled by vehicle for over five kilometres and then walked, on the flat!, another two kilometres only to find they had gone. They do move quick! But we had some great encounters, saw them eating a fresh kill and even saw a mother, two year old and four month old cub. One of the most incredible experiences and certainly a memory that will stay with me for a long time. Its something that should be on the bucket list.
